Job Description
Position: Manager – ARR Bangladesh Operations
We are seeking a Manager – ARR Bangladesh Operations to serve as the primary execution arm for our Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) projects across Bangladesh. This is a ground-level, high-accountability role requiring proactive ground management and strategic thinking. The Senior Manager will be responsible for ensuring that operations are unfolding as designed and that partner-reported progress is accurate and independently validated.
The ideal candidate combines strong operational discipline with deep familiarity with Bangladesh's rural implementation ecosystem (NGOs, FPOs, and local delivery partners) and is comfortable spending the majority of their time in the field. The candidate should also have a strong strategic thinking and problem-solving mindset, with hands-on experience in project management.
Roles and Responsibilities
Field Operations Oversight
Conduct accompanied and unaccompanied site visits to monitor project progress, validate execution quality, and provide updates.
Support implementation partners in farmer enrolment, plantation execution, and milestone completion.
Ensure field execution aligns with operational guidelines, local requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
Identify operational risks, gaps, and bottlenecks, and drive corrective action.
Track adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for implementation partners across project geographies.
Build strong relationships with partner organizations and field teams to enable effective coordination.
Coordinate execution planning, resource deployment, plantation scheduling, and issue resolution.
Engage with local government bodies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to strengthen execution.
Escalate unresolved operational issues through appropriate channels.
Lead Sourcing
Identify, evaluate, and onboard new implementation partners (NGOs, FPOs, and local delivery agencies) to support Varaha’s operational expansion across the country
Maintain an active pipeline of prospective partners; conduct due diligence on organizational capacity, geographic reach, and track record
Educational/Communication Programs
Lead community meetings, workshops, and awareness programs to promote afforestation and sustainable practices.
Drive community participation and strengthen long-term engagement.
Identify and engage local champions to improve project acceptance.
Support community feedback and grievance resolution mechanisms.
Conflict/Grievance Resolution
Proactively manage and resolve conflicts or grievances arising in project communities.
Implement community feedback mechanisms and ensure transparency in decision-making processes.
Data Management & Documentation
Oversee field data collection, validation, and consolidation across partners.
Maintain data integrity through structured tracking systems.
Prepare regular reports on project progress, partner performance, risks, and challenges.
Contribute to organizational knowledge-sharing and process improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Development Studies, Public Administration, or related fields
~3-7 years of proven experience in project coordination, field operations, implementation management, and stakeholder engagement in a rural/agricultural development context
Prior experience working with or managing NGOs, FPOs, or local implementation partners in Bangladesh is strongly preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in English and Bengali, to effectively engage with diverse community members and stakeholders
Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with community members and stakeholders
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and relationship management skills
Understanding of environmental conservation, afforestation, Agroforestry, and sustainable development principles
Strong proficiency in data management and analysis and high attention to details. High IT literacy, including good skills at MS Office suite like Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Willingness to travel regularly to Gurugram, India, 4-6 times in a year, as per business requirements.
