Position: GIS Analyst: Climate & Carbon Projects
Location: Gurgaon Head Office
Role Overview: We’re looking for a skilled and passionate GIS Analyst to join our Climate & GIS team. In this role, you will lead the spatial data efforts for carbon projects ranging from afforestation to soil carbon and agroforestry. You will work at the core of land monitoring, remote sensing, and boundary validation efforts using GIS software and high-resolution imagery. This is a high-impact role for someone with real-world experience in geospatial workflows who is excited to drive data-backed climate outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
● Manage and validate spatial datasets (KML/GeoJSON/shapefiles) for carbon project areas.
● Perform farm and plot boundary checks using Google Earth Pro, QGIS, and satellite imagery.
● Apply NDVI, EVI, and other vegetation indices for land use classification and monitoring.
● Support projects with detailed geospatial mapping and change detection.
● Integrate field GPS data and ensure alignment with GIS platforms and imagery.
● Conduct QA/QC on polygon data and track overlaps, inconsistencies, or missing data.
● Work with remote sensing layers and raster data for carbon estimation and validation.
● Create professional maps, dashboards, and spatial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
● Collaborate with field teams and project managers for accurate, real-time data alignment.
● Maintain GIS databases in compliance with third-party standards (e.g., Verra, Gold Standard)
Qualifications and Experience:
● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Remote Sensing, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field.
● 0-1+ years of experience in professional GIS work, ideally in climate, forestry, or agri-tech domains.
● Proficiency in QGIS, Google Earth Pro, and any one of: ArcGIS, SNAP, ERDAS, or similar tools.
● Familiarity with remote sensing principles and vegetation monitoring.
● Understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and spatial data accuracy standards.
● Ability to process large geospatial datasets and conduct precise polygon editing.
● Strong documentation and map-making skills.
● Good communication skills and ability to work across diverse teams
