Job Description
Position: Area Supervisor – ARR Bangladesh Operations
We are seeking an Area Supervisor – ARR Bangladesh Operations to serve as the primary execution arm for our Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) projects across Bangladesh. This is a ground-level, high-accountability role requiring proactive ground management and strategic thinking. The Senior Manager will be responsible for ensuring that operations are unfolding as designed and that partner-reported progress is accurate and independently validated.
The ideal candidate combines strong operational discipline with deep familiarity with Bangladesh's rural implementation ecosystem (NGOs, FPOs, and local delivery partners) and is comfortable spending the majority of their time in the field. The candidate should also have a strong strategic thinking and problem-solving mindset, with hands-on experience in project management.
Roles and Responsibilities
Field Operations Oversight
Own end-to-end plantation execution across assigned clusters, including farmer onboarding, planting, and early survival management.
Conduct regular field visits to monitor operational progress, validate execution quality, and ensure adherence to implementation standards.
Plan and monitor field activities including pit preparation, plantation scheduling, aftercare, and first-90-day maintenance.
Track plantation survival rates, identify field-level risks, and drive timely corrective actions.
Conduct post-plantation farm audits to assess plantation quality and implementation effectiveness.
Farmer & Community Engagement
Lead farmer communication and field-level mobilization activities including village meetings, farmer interactions, and exposure visits.
Build strong relationships with farmers and local communities to drive adoption and participation.
Address farmer concerns and expectations professionally to maintain long-term trust and program credibility.
Support community engagement efforts to ensure alignment with local needs and implementation objectives.
Partner & Vendor Coordination
Coordinate closely with implementation partners to ensure timely and effective field execution.
Support resolution of operational issues related to field execution, logistics, and resource deployment.
Escalate unresolved operational challenges through appropriate channels.
Team Supervision & Performance Management
Manage and supervise implementation-partner field teams and surveyors across assigned geographies.
Ensure field teams execute activities as per operational protocols and quality benchmarks.
Monitor team productivity, execution discipline, and reporting accuracy.
Provide field-level guidance and support to strengthen execution quality.
Data Management & Documentation
Monitor field data collection and ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely submission.
Validate field-level reports and plantation records to maintain data quality.
Track operational performance metrics and provide regular updates on progress, challenges, and risks.
Support structured documentation of field observations and implementation learnings.
Qualifications
Graduate in Agriculture, Forestry, Environmental Science, Rural Development, or a related field.
1–4 years of experience in plantation execution, rural development programs, agriculture operations, or field project management.
Prior experience managing field teams or coordinating with implementation partners preferred.
Strong knowledge of plantation practices, sapling quality standards, and early-stage survival management.
Strong operational planning and execution capabilities.
Excellent farmer and community engagement skills.
Ability to identify field risks and drive corrective actions.
Basic reporting and data management proficiency.
Willingness to travel extensively across assigned project geographies.
