About the Role

We are seeking experienced electronics quality engineers and inspection professionals with deep expertise in PCB assembly, wire harnesses, semiconductor packaging, electronics manufacturing, and failure analysis.

You’ll evaluate PCB manufacturing data, electronic assemblies, inspection results, counterfeit components, and semiconductor packages. The role requires strong knowledge of IPC standards, electronics quality processes, and advanced inspection techniques, along with the ability to clearly document technical findings and explain quality decisions.

No prior AI experience is required. Your electronics quality and inspection expertise are the primary qualifications.

What You’ll Do

  • Review PCB CAM and Gerber files for manufacturability, quality, and compliance with applicable industry standards.

  • Perform IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 visual inspections of PCB assemblies and wire harness builds.

  • Analyze SMT and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) defects, including identifying and investigating AOI false calls and their root causes.

  • Evaluate electronic components for potential counterfeiting using AS6081 requirements, risk indicators, and mitigation practices.

  • Conduct and interpret semiconductor package inspections using C-SAM and X-ray imaging.

  • Evaluate die and package inspection results and apply relevant MIL-STD-883 requirements.

  • Document inspection findings, quality issues, root-cause considerations, and recommended actions in clear technical reports.

  • Communicate technical findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Collaborate remotely to refine inspection workflows and contribute domain expertise to technical evaluation datasets.

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in electronics quality, CAM engineering, failure analysis, or closely related work within PCB assembly, wire harness, or semiconductor packaging environments.

  • Extensive knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 inspection criteria.

  • Experience reviewing Gerber data and using PCB CAM software for manufacturability and quality assurance.

  • Strong understanding of SMT manufacturing processes and AOI defect analysis.

  • Experience investigating and addressing false calls in automated inspection systems.

  • Direct experience with counterfeit electronic component screening in accordance with AS6081.

  • Knowledge of counterfeit component risk indicators and mitigation strategies.

  • Hands-on experience with semiconductor inspection techniques including C-SAM and X-ray imaging.

  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-883 inspection and testing procedures.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document and explain technical findings clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

IPC CIS or CIT certification is strongly preferred.

Engagement & Compensation

  • Contractor engagement.

  • Remote work, with US-based professionals preferred.

  • $70–$120 per hour.

  • Annual compensation equivalent of $134,400–$230,400 based on 40 hours per week across 48 workable weeks. This is an annualized full-time equivalent and does not represent guaranteed annual earnings.

  • No prior AI experience is required.
