The annual compensation figure is a full-time equivalent calculated at 40 hours per week across 48 workable weeks. This is a contractor engagement, so actual earnings depend on hours worked and available project tasks.

About the Role

This role is for cybersecurity professionals with strong hands-on experience using Security Onion for security monitoring, threat detection, network analysis, and incident investigation.

You will complete realistic security workflows, analyze security data, document investigation processes, and create structured prompts and evaluation rubrics based on practical Security Onion usage. Your technical expertise will contribute to the evaluation and improvement of AI systems applied to cybersecurity workflows.

No prior AI experience is required.

What You’ll Do

• Complete assigned cybersecurity workflows and tasks using Security Onion.

• Use Security Onion for network monitoring, alert investigation, log analysis, threat detection, and incident response.

• Analyze security alerts, network traffic, logs, and other relevant security data.

• Record your screen while completing assigned workflows and demonstrate the steps taken.

• Create realistic technical prompts based on completed Security Onion workflows.

• Develop detailed rubrics for evaluating workflow execution and technical outputs.

• Document investigation steps, tools, features, and techniques used.

• Review task outputs for technical accuracy and alignment with project guidelines.

• Work independently while following defined quality and documentation standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong hands-on experience using Security Onion for security monitoring, threat detection, or incident investigation.

• Practical understanding of network security monitoring, security alerts, logs, and incident investigation workflows.

• Ability to clearly document and explain technical procedures.

• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

• Current access to Security Onion and the ability to use the platform independently.

• Comfortable recording and sharing your screen while completing technical workflows.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience with data annotation, data labeling, RLHF, AI response evaluation, model evaluation, or similar work.

• Experience developing technical prompts, evaluation criteria, or workflow documentation.

• Broader cybersecurity operations or threat detection experience.
