About the Role

We are seeking Junior Software Engineers with strong software development fundamentals to evaluate AI-generated code and develop challenging engineering problems that test real-world programming capabilities.

In this remote contract role, you will assess code for correctness, quality, and design, create coding problems with reference solutions and test cases, and evaluate AI-generated reasoning across software architecture, debugging, and system design.

This opportunity is suited to software engineers with recent experience at leading technology companies who can apply sound engineering judgment and explain technical decisions clearly.

Key Responsibilities

Code Evaluation & Review

  • Evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, quality, maintainability, and design.

  • Review implementations for logical errors, inefficient approaches, and potential defects.

  • Assess whether generated solutions follow sound software engineering principles.

  • Identify weaknesses in code structure, algorithms, and implementation choices.

Engineering Problem Development

  • Create challenging coding problems that test practical software engineering skills.

  • Develop reference solutions demonstrating correct and effective implementations.

  • Write test cases to verify functional correctness and identify edge cases.

  • Ensure problems and expected solutions provide reliable assessments of coding ability.

Architecture & Technical Reasoning

  • Evaluate AI-generated reasoning about software architecture and system design.

  • Review approaches to debugging, problem decomposition, and technical decision-making.

  • Assess the suitability of proposed solutions for the engineering problems presented.

  • Identify gaps in reasoning and explain how solutions could be improved.

Technical Feedback & Documentation

  • Provide detailed feedback on code quality, correctness, design, and reasoning.

  • Clearly document technical issues and explain relevant engineering decisions.

  • Help improve AI performance on practical software development tasks through structured evaluations.

Required Qualifications

  • At least one year of professional software engineering experience at a leading technology company.

  • At least part of that experience must fall within the past three years.

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including algorithms and data structures.

  • Understanding of software architecture, system design, debugging, and code review.

  • Ability to evaluate code for correctness, quality, and design.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to explain technical decisions clearly in writing.

  • Based in an English-speaking country.
