An early-stage AI technology company is seeking a Head of Operations to build its operational infrastructure and drive execution across business operations, talent acquisition, customer engagement, and fundraising.
Reporting directly to the founder, this individual will combine operational ownership with commercial and strategic execution, establishing the systems and processes required for growth. The ideal candidate is a high-agency generalist who exercises sound judgment, communicates effectively, and delivers results independently in an environment with limited structure.
Business Operations: Oversee core operational functions, including payroll, accounting, insurance, compliance, contracts, office administration, and coordination with legal and financial service providers.
Talent Operations: Build talent pipelines and establish efficient recruiting processes to support organizational growth.
Customer Engagement: Develop customer presentations, product one-pagers, and business materials that translate complex technical capabilities into clear commercial value.
Fundraising Support: Prepare investor presentations, maintain fundraising documentation and data rooms, and coordinate information requests.
Operational Infrastructure: Establish internal workflows, controls, and scalable processes that improve execution, accountability, and organizational efficiency.
Strategic Execution: Partner with the founder on high-priority initiatives, identify operational risks, and drive projects from conception through completion.
2–5 years of experience in startup operations, business operations, or a related field.
Exposure to high-performance environments, ideally within a scaling Series A–C startup.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and coordinate multiple stakeholders independently.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce polished business and customer-facing materials.
Commercial judgment and the ability to understand technical products, customer needs, and business priorities.
Exceptional organization, attention to detail, discretion, and reliability.
Ability to navigate ambiguity, establish structure from scratch, and deliver results without extensive direction.
Availability to work on-site in San Francisco, California.
Investment banking, private equity, management consulting, venture capital, or startup investing.
Experience in fundraising operations, financial administration, recruiting, or contract and compliance coordination.
A transition from finance, consulting, sales, or product into a hands-on operating role.
MBA or equivalent business education supported by a strong record of execution.
Experience building internal systems and processes in an early-stage company.
Base salary: $150,000–$200,000 annually.
Equity: 0.5%–0.75%.
Full-time, on-site position in San Francisco, California. Visa sponsorship is not available.
