We are seeking an experienced Finance Research Expert to support a financial research and AI evaluation project focused on real US public companies.
In this role, you will create finance research questions that require careful analysis of SEC filings and investor relations materials. Each question must have a verified, sourced answer. You will then evaluate AI model responses, identifying questions that models answer incorrectly and refining ambiguous questions.
This opportunity is suited to finance professionals with hands-on experience interpreting US financial filings, applying US GAAP, and tracing figures across complex documents.
Develop research questions requiring specific information from 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements, earnings releases, or investor presentations.
Create questions that require comparing multiple documents to identify the correct financial figure or disclosure.
Identify discrepancies between documents, such as original versus restated figures or adjusted versus reported results.
Verify answers using authoritative source documents and provide supporting citations.
Evaluate the relevant fiscal period, filing, and document version, including the latest amended filing where applicable.
Test each question against current AI models and retain questions that models answer incorrectly.
Rewrite questions when wording could allow multiple valid answers.
Review long financial filings, footnotes, and tables to establish accurate, evidence-based answers.
Hands-on experience reading and interpreting US SEC filings.
Familiarity with US GAAP and financial reporting.
Experience in at least one relevant finance or financial research discipline.
Ability to analyze long filings, including detailed footnotes and financial tables.
Strong analytical and research skills, with attention to reporting periods and document versions.
Clear written English and the ability to formulate precise, unambiguous questions.
Ability to verify financial information against reliable source documents.
Relevant experience may include:
Equity Research or Investment Analysis: Sell-side or buy-side coverage of US companies.
Investment Banking or Corporate Development: M&A, equity capital markets, deal filings, prospectuses, ownership history, or subsidiary structures.
Credit or Restructuring Analysis: Credit agreements, bond terms, or bankruptcy filings.
SEC Reporting or Audit: Big Four audit, corporate reporting, restatements, financial footnotes, and changes in reported figures across filings.
Corporate Law or Due Diligence: Securities law, KYC, investigations, or tracing entities, executives, and related parties across records.
Equity Research • Financial Analysis • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) • Corporate Finance • Accounting • Audit • Investor Relations • Credit Analysis • SEC Filings • US GAAP • Financial Reporting • Document Research • Financial Statement Analysis • Source Verification • Research Question Development • AI Model Evaluation
This opportunity is ideal for equity research analysts, investment professionals, corporate finance specialists, auditors, credit analysts, SEC reporting professionals, and due diligence experts with practical experience working with US public company filings.
If you can trace financial figures across complex disclosures, verify the correct reporting period and document version, and develop precise research questions with sourced answers, this is an opportunity to apply your financial expertise to the evaluation and improvement of AI systems.
Application: Submit your resume and a short professional profile.
Finance Interview: Complete a short conversation about your experience with US filings and financial reporting. No preparation or written assignment is required.
Experience Review: Your background is assessed against the project’s requirements.
Onboarding and Initial Task: If selected, you will receive project guidelines and complete an initial task for review before continuing.
