This opportunity is ideal for accounting professionals with strong US GAAP knowledge, professional judgment, financial reporting, audit, controllership, FP&A, or tax experience. You will review AI-generated work, assess whether conclusions are accurate and properly supported, and identify gaps, errors, or unsupported claims.
Review AI-agent attempts at realistic accounting and financial reporting tasks.
Assess whether conclusions are technically correct, complete, and adequately supported.
Verify that accounting work was actually completed and recorded rather than simply described.
Identify fabricated support, unsupported figures, incomplete procedures, and overstated work.
Evaluate whether the appropriate accounting method and standards were applied to the relevant issue.
Assess workpapers, memos, reconciliations, evidence, and supporting documentation for completeness and review readiness.
Provide clear, specific agree/disagree rationales explaining your evaluation.
Apply a verify-before-finalize approach when assessing accounting outputs.
US GAAP financial statements and period-end close and reporting processes.
Reconciliations, substantive analytics, and source-document tie-outs.
Subledger-to-general-ledger reconciliations.
Understanding of open, locked, and reopened accounting periods.
Materiality and evaluation of errors and misstatements.
Adjusting journal entries and related effects, including deferred tax implications.
Distinguishing posted ledger entries from drafts, unposted batches, and working-paper adjustments.
Working knowledge of relevant US GAAP standards, including:
ASC 606 — Revenue Recognition
ASC 842 — Leases
ASC 350/360 — Impairment
Income Taxes
ASC 326 — Credit Losses
ASC 805 — Business Combinations
Reserves, allowances, and significant accounting estimates.
Workpaper and accounting memo standards.
Cross-referencing, sign-offs, and review-ready documentation.
Assessing whether figures, citations, procedures, and conclusions are genuinely supported by available evidence.
Comfort working with professional accounting and financial systems, including:
Audit and engagement platforms such as CaseWare
GL/ERP systems such as NetSuite
BI and reporting platforms such as Power BI
3+ years of professional accounting experience in one or more of:
External Audit
Controllership / Technical Accounting
FP&A
Tax
Current or recent hands-on experience working under US GAAP.
Strong professional judgment and the ability to quickly identify unsupported numbers, misapplied standards, or incomplete accounting work.
CPA certification, active pursuit of CPA certification, Big 4/firm experience, industry experience, or equivalent professional background.
Comfortable interpreting financial statements, supporting schedules, accounting records, and related documentation.
Strong written communication and attention to detail.
Independent contractor engagement.
Fully remote with flexible scheduling.
Project duration may vary based on business requirements and performance.
Work will not require access to confidential or proprietary information belonging to another employer, client, or institution.
Payments are made weekly based on services rendered.
H-1B and STEM OPT sponsorship is not currently supported.
Apply your accounting expertise to the development of next-generation AI systems.
Work on realistic financial reporting and accounting evaluation tasks.
Collaborate with researchers and professionals working on advanced AI.
Make a direct contribution to improving the accuracy, reliability, and reasoning capabilities of AI in accounting and finance.
Ideal Candidate: An experienced accounting professional with strong US GAAP expertise, sharp professional judgment, and the ability to distinguish technically correct, properly supported accounting work from incomplete or unsupported AI-generated output.
