JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Machinist - Grinding

Dept./Section : Tool room / Grinding department

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Capable of operating the grinding machine and capable to use the optidress attachment. Capable of grinding the jobs as per drawing.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

➢ Must be able to read and understand drawings with multiple operation without supervision.

➢ Knowledge of grinding wheel and selecting the grinding wheel for suitable material

➢ Knowing about precision work holding devices like Sine bed and Punch Former.

ITI - Machinist / Grinder/NTTF/GTTC

Skill Sets & Competencies:
1) Knowledge on how to calculate and build up slip gauges for setting sine table top grind angles
2) Capable of grinding angles on wedge blocks/inserts to 5 microns accuracy
3) Skill on Deburring the job without damaging the edges
4) Knowledge of chemical & handling & safety; emergency preparedness to handle spillage of chemicals
& waste

➢ Capable of using all measuring instruments to an accuracy of 0.001

➢ Knows how to design and fabricate fixtures to support the grinding of inserts

➢ Capable of operating an Opti-dress unit to grind inserts to an accuracy of 0.002 on angled or

radiused profiles

➢ Capable of grinding blanks to a +/- 0.002 accuracy

➢ Capable of grinding finished parts to a +/-0.002 on flat surfaces.

➢ Capable of grinding after parting to an accuracy of 0.002

➢ Capable of grinding and measuring shut-off areas to +/-0.002 accuracy

➢ Capable of finishing ground blanks and 2nd operation to +/-0.002

➢ Capable to grind stack tolerances of 0.005 for 10 inserts
