The Mold Design Engineer is responsible for creating precise and robust 2D and 3D designs for high-quality plastic injection molds. The focus is on optimizing mold functionality, minimizing manufacturing cycle times, and ensuring tool longevity.
3D & 2D Mold Design: Design complete plastic injection molds, including core/cavity splits, sliders, lifters, cooling layouts, and runner/ejection systems.
Moldflow Analysis: Perform mold flow simulations to predict and eliminate defects like air traps, weld lines, and optimal gate positioning.
BOM & Documentation: Generate accurate Bill of Materials (BOM), detailed manufacturing drawings, and layout documentation.
Design Optimization: Modify and update existing designs based on Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and trial feedback.
Standardization: Maintain and utilize standardized design elements to enhance engineering efficiency.
Education: Diploma or B.E. / B.Tech in Tool & Die Making or Mechanical Engineering (CIPET / NTTF / GTTC preferred).
Experience: 3–6 years of hands-on experience in plastic injection mold design.
Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (NX Unigraphics, Creo, or SolidWorks) and Moldflow simulation tools; clear understanding of plastic shrinkage and behavior.
