Position Overview

D. E. Shaw India is seeking a highly skilled Core Tech Principal Manager (PDS) with strong expertise in software development, big data systems, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will drive complex engineering initiatives, lead technical teams, and build scalable, high-performance solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Core Software Development

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise-grade applications

• Write efficient, maintainable, and optimized code using Python or similar programming languages

• Debug and optimize applications for performance and scalability

2. Big Data & System Engineering

• Work on large-scale data processing and distributed systems

• Apply strong analytical and quantitative skills to solve complex technical challenges

• Implement robust architecture and software design principles

3. Project Ownership & Execution

• Independently lead projects from design to deployment

• Translate complex technical and business requirements into scalable solutions

• Work in agile and interdisciplinary environments with cross-functional teams

4. Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Lead and mentor engineering teams

• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders

• Drive delivery excellence and ensure high-quality outcomes

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

• 7–10 years of experience in core software development

• Strong coding and debugging skills

• Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages

• Strong understanding of:

  • Data Structures & Algorithms

  • Software Design Principles

  • Design Patterns

  • Problem Solving & Quantitative Analysis

• Experience working in Agile environments

• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills

• Ability to independently execute projects with minimal supervision

• At least 1 year of people management experience leading teams of 2+ members
