Design Engineer

Job Summary:

The Laser Cutting Drawing Design Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate and production

ready drawings for laser cutting operations. The role involves converting design requirements into

detailed 2D/3D drawings, nesting layouts, and coordinating with production and quality teams to

ensure efficient and error-free manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare laser cutting drawings as per customer specifications, project requirements, and

manufacturing standards.

• Convert hand sketches, CAD models, or technical inputs into detailed cutting drawings.

• Create nesting layouts to optimize material usage and reduce scrap.

• Ensure all drawings are accurate, dimensionally correct, and suitable for production.

• Coordinate with the production team to resolve drawing or fabrication issues.

• Maintain drawing records, revisions, and documentation as per company standards.

• Review and check drawings before releasing them to the shop floor.

• Ensure compliance with quality standards and tolerances.

• Support the estimation team with drawing-related inputs, if required.

• Work closely with the sales, project, and quality teams for design modifications.

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.

• Knowledge of laser cutting processes and sheet metal fabrication.

• Understanding of materials, tolerances, and manufacturing techniques.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Good coordination and communication skills.

• Problem-solving and time-management abilities.

Educational Qualification:

• Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Experience:

• 1 to 4 years of experience in laser cutting, sheet metal design, or fabrication drawings.
