Position Overview:
We’re searching for a Senior CPA / Department Lead who will manage two key departments and help shape the operational engine of the firm. This role is vital to ensuring efficiency, compliance, and alignment with organizational goals.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment and knows how to lead with both structure and heart. You should be just as comfortable making decisions independently as you are coaching a team toward excellence.
Office Location: Seattle, WA
Compensation: $25-$35 hourly
Position Type: Full Time, 1099
Reports To and Collaborates With: The CEO

Key Responsibilities:
Manage daily operations of two internal departments
Supervise and mentor staff, promoting ownership and accountability
Identify performance gaps and implement streamlined solutions
Optimize internal systems, SOPs, and workflows
Bridge communication between teams and leadership
Drive performance through coaching and real-time support
Cultivate a culture of creativity, collaboration, and clarity
What You Bring:
Licensing & Technical Requirements
Active CPA license (State Board Certified)
Proficient in tax accounting (individual and small business)
7+ years of public accounting experience (not just internal/corporate)
Expert in QuickBooks Online & Desktop (ProAdvisor certified)
Familiarity with TaxDome and Drake Software
Strong knowledge of reconciliation, chart of accounts, and form prep
Experience with nonprofit and for-profit structures
Leadership & Operational Strength
5+ years in operations, admin support, or departmental leadership
Proven track record of managing and developing high-performing teams
Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills with a solutions-first mindset
Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
Comfortable working autonomously and making strategic decisions
Passion for building efficient, people-friendly systems
