Job Description: Logistics Manager for Food Industry
1. Overview:
The Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all aspects of logistics for the food industry organization. The key objective is to ensure efficient and cost-effective transportation, warehousing, and distribution of food products while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and standards.
2. Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive logistics strategies to optimize product delivery
Manage transportation providers and negotiate contracts for efficient and cost-effective transportation
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of food products to customers
Oversee warehousing operations, including inventory management, storage, retrieval, and distribution
Monitor and analyze logistics data to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate logistics activities
Manage a team of logistics professionals and provide guidance and support
Maintain compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements, including FDA and USDA regulations
3. Technical Skills:
Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
Inventory control and forecasting
Supply chain management
Logistics costing and budgeting
4. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
5+ years of experience in logistics management, preferably in the food industry
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Strong leadership and management abilities
Certifications in logistics management (e.g., CSCP, CCLP) are preferred
5. Skills & Experience:
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative logistics solutions
Deep understanding of food industry regulations and compliance requirements
Knowledge of cold chain management and temperature-controlled transportation
Excellent negotiation and communication skills with vendors and customers
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proven ability to manage complex logistics operations effectively
